Reception rooms

Downstairs there is a newly designed Kitchen round a central island and includes a Lacanche cooker range with gas hobs and electric ovens. The Kitchen table seats 10. The Dining room seats 14 comfortably with an option to add an additional table. During the restoration of the Dining room a fine shell and leaf “fresco” painting has been discovered under layers of old paint and wallpaper.

There are two elegant reception rooms with tall ceilings- the Drawing room and the Red room, in which to enjoy entertaining and conversation as well as reading, playing the piano (electronic) or board games. A new wood burning stove will keep guests warm and cosy in the winter months. Bay windows overlook the lawn and uninterrupted landscape below. A separate first floor Games room doubles up as a “Teen” room where young people can watch a movie or play board games. There is a sofa bed in this room.

We take particular interest in our guests health and wellbeing. All our towels and bed linen are organic and Fairtrade. All cleaning products are eco friendly.

Particular care has been given in the restoration to using traditional methods of building, using and recycling with natural materials, water based paints and using cotton and linen fabrics.

The Garden

On warm days, guests can relax and sit outside on the patio overlooking the garden and woodland. The table seats 10.  We are very protective of our flora and fauna particularly our resident herons (noisy at times!).

Parents must supervise their children at all times when outside, especially by our two ponds. Guests can walk in the grounds. We are currently repairing parts of the garden including reshaping the old greenhouse and potting shed areas and a team of dry stone wallers are hard at work using up piles of old stone to make a new rose garden and raised beds.
